Grosics School is a school of 480 students and 38 teachers where students follow a unique curriculum. It has been functioning as an excellent sports school and methodology centre for more than ten years. Students are obliged to take part in different training sessions in the afternoons either in the school or in one of the sports clubs of our district. It’s an important part of our syllabus to establish healthy and sporty lifestyle. Our aims include the importance of persistent work and the ability to fight. Through sport students’ personality, stamina and willpower are strengthened.
Apart from our students’ success at their chosen sport, the teachers put great emphasis on preparing them well enough to reach excellent results in their studies too. It is not only crucial to raise physically and psychologically healthy teenagers but also the adequate development of their thinking must be ensured. It is an effective way of preparing students for the challenges of everyday life through strengthening their mathematical and language competencies.
This academic year the new Grosics Model is being introduced in our school. This model has been developed by a team of our staff with the aim of providing the best competences for the students of our school. The pressure to enrol students at primary schools is constantly urging our institution for renewal which we wish to complete through strengthening its role to provide critical educational foundations. Having surveyed the needs of the children and their parents in our school, we decided to launch our new enrichment program with the ultimate goal to educate students who are good at both their studies and sports and also communicate well in English. Our aim is to make English learning natural and available for the children on a daily basis, a routine that is already established in sports classes. Nonetheless extracurricular ICT classes are provided for our students. With these we not only wish to support and advocate educating EU conscious proactive citizens but want to stabilize their sports careers in the future. Our aim is to teach children who will welcome the values of the European Union, become interested in different cultures and even want to build contacts with them.
